The woodcaring section of the club was founded in 1989 by Max Ashworth and Kurt Frick, with the aim of promoting a wider interest in wood carving in the community. For many years the Wednesday night meeting consisted of show and tell at start of meeting followed by work on your own project. Meeting numbers varied between 4 - 6 members. New comers were always welcomed.

A change direction is currently being trialed where all members are working on same individual projects from published book, thus each member can see progress and receive help from fellow member.

All timber is supplied, and for new members carving tools are lent out on the night.
